Botox® can be injected into muscles that move the eyebrow. These muscles are positioned around the eyebrows and are anatomically known as corrugator muscles. corrugator muscles are responsible for pulling the eyebrows down as well as vertical furrows that appear on the forehead. The orbicularis oculi muscle on the other hand, is responsible for blinking and is primarily positioned at the eyelids and the temple. This is the muscle that causes "crow's feet" wrinkles at the outer corners of the eye. Crows feet muscles are effectively smoothened by Botox® injections.Constant use of these muscles together is responsible for the formation of deep lines between the eyebrows. Botox® injections are clinically indicated for softening glabellar lines.

Botox® injection will essentially relax the muscles that are responsible for putting creases in the skin. The muscles injected with Botox® will begin to relax post Botox® injection. Botox® injected muscles will remain affected and unable to contract for a period of three to four months. The ability to contract will return to the injected muscles after the effects of Botox® wares off following this period.

It should be noted that because the effects of Botox® are temporary Botox® injections are recommended to maintain desired skin smoothness.
